Who We Are

A diverse team united by a desire to do exceptional work and create awesome experiences for our guests.

Real Food Eatery was founded in 2016 with the simple mission to make delicious, simple food available to Philadelphians. We are students, artists, music enthusiasts, readers, travelers, gardeners, home cooks, yogis, runners, pet lovers, and parents.

We run the gamut in terms of age, background, and interests but we are united by a common set of values and goals: do exceptional work, have fun, make friends, and always be learning.

We've built three stores in three years and have a ton of opportunity ahead of us -- and a TON of learning to do. 

Who You Are

An eager learner, a conscientious worker, a thoughtful, kind, supportive human.

Our team is broken into two main categories: Front of House and Back of House.  Some team members identify strongly with one or the other.  Our management level employees have a knack for both.

To thrive in the Front of House, you'll need to be bright, approachable and friendly. You are the type of person who has a desire to make people's day better.  You can intuitively look a stranger in the eye and say hello with a warm smile. You are calm under pressure, can move fast, and take constructive criticism.  You are fun to be around and make friends easily.

To flourish in the Back of House, you'll need to have exceptional work ethic. You are the type of person who keeps moving and and is driven to contribute to the team even if the manager isn't looking. You yearn for an organized and clean workspace. Disorder and filth drive you INSANE. You are the type that enjoys structure and following procedure. Oh, and of course, you love cooking and eating!

What We Offer

Free Shift Meals
Enjoy delicious, nourishing Real Food every time you work. We encourage our team members to explore all of our options, get familiar with the menu, and develop favorites.

40 Hour Weeks
We aim to get our full-timers a solid 40 hours. Some of our restaurants even operate on a set schedule. We want our team members to have enough work but not too much. We all have a life outside of work and a need to rest + recharge.

No Late Nights, No Early Mornings
We value deep, restful sleep. Our stores operate from 11am-9pm or 7:30am-7pm. These hours enable our team members to enjoy a healthy circadian rhythm regardless of what shift you work.

Service Team Member

There is always room on the Service Team for positive and outgoing people who love serving others. The Service Team is a great place to get started at Real Food Eatery. Training typically takes 2-3 days and you are off to the races. It's an excellent position for part-timers or a great career starting point for those who want to work their way into management.

About the Job

Our Service Team is the face of Real Food Eatery with the core mission of creating positive and memorable customer service experiences for our customers. Here are some examples of what you'll work on in a typical day:

  • Hours: Work from 9am-4:30pm or 4:30pm-10pm. No late nights or early mornings.
  • Prep: Get organized for the lunch or dinner service.  Perform light prep work (cut tomatoes, avocados, cheeses), stock backups of all sauces and dry toppings, .
  • Service: Interact with customers one-on-one to build their meals, keep the line stocked, tend to online orders, operate the cash register.
  • Cleanup: Perform mid-day cleanup and re-stock or close down the store.

About You

Bright, approachable and friendly people thrive on the Service Team.  We are fast-movers but calm under pressure. We are kind to each other and to our customers -- many of whom we know by first name. We show up to work with the general mission of making the day better for the people around us.

Pay and Benefits

We pay at the top 10% of industry rates and pool tips across all team members. Since we are a growing company, promotions and pay increases are legitimately available to top performers. We do our best to provide a set, 40 hour schedule to our full-time employees and create flexibility for our part-time staff. All team members enjoy a daily shift meal on the house.

Chef

We are hiring Chefs to join our kitchen operations team at our two downtown locations. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week role where you will oversee the entire food journey in a vegetable-forward, scratch kitchen. This role includes a mixture of AM (9am-5pm) and PM (3pm-10pm) shifts with at least one weekend shift. No early mornings or super late nights.

About the Job

Some key responsibilities of the job:

  • Work 40 hours per week.
  • Train under our Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to learn to prep and execute all of our recipes.
  • Learn our food ordering process.
  • Assist in keeping the walk-in and dry storage areas expertly clean and organized. You'll need to be able to lift heavy boxes (40+ lbs).
  • Oversee opening, closing, deep cleaning, equipment maintenance.

About You

The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working in a fine dining kitchen.  Solid knife skills are required as is an open mind and a desire to learn. You should be a fast mover and the type who craves organization and order but can deal with the chaos that sometimes occurs in a small, busy kitchen. It will also help if you legitimately like eating Real Food. We prep and cook hundreds of pounds of fresh produce and meats each day and make all of our dressings and sauces in house.  So, the more you love Real Food and scratch-cooking, the more this role will resonate with you.
